“…Everything you do in life leads you to where your are meant to be, with whom your are meant to be with, and doing what you are meant to do…or so it seems…”

I am an illustrator.

Some would say it’s more of a compulsion than an occupation.  I have been on a creative path ever since the day I picked up a crayon and figured out I really didn’t need a coloring book anymore. My path has been a winding maze leading me through comics, photography, filmmaking, acting, design, and finally back to my crayons with illustration.

It takes a lot of dedication.

I  have 30+ years experience in the field of print design, which can be regarded as an achievement by today’s standards. My career started in the waining days of Rubylith, ruling pens, and stat cameras. Once I could afford to work digitally , I did, and never looked back. In the past 20 years, I’ve been working in-house and freelance as a graphic designer, art director and illustrator in the children’s entertainment field—working for some of the largest toy, game and publishing companies in the industry. And that list continues to grow. I love my craft and I’m always looking to expand my skills.

Being a creative entrepreneur isn’t for the meek.

This is a crazy business to be in—but the rewards are great if an artist can run the course while avoiding the many traps and pitfalls along the way. Believe me, I have had my share of boneheaded choices that have turned out to be my greatest teachings. The keys to success? Keep moving forward, assess and adapt, find your groove, listen to your clients, and constantly work at improving your skills.

Thanks, and stay busy.
